WHAT ARE
SILVER IONS?
Silver ions are silver atoms from which one or more electrons have been lost from its electron cloud. This gives the silver atom a positive charge. Atoms in this state are known as ions.

Silver ions have many anti-odor and oxidizing properties that make it an ideal material in textile productions
HOW DOES
IT WORK?
The positively charged silver ion (Ag+) is attracted to the negatively charged cells that make contact, or form on the fabric.
Binding to the cell wall, the Ag+ will work into the microorganism itself, disrupting and destroying important cell functions.

This disruption of the cell's energy and respiratory production will kill the cell, leaving the Ag+ particles free to handle the next organism.
IS IT SAFE?
This process is skin and environmentally safe. There is little to no risk of leakage or silver particle contamination.
Unlike other silver-based smart fabrics, the silver used in SILVADUR™ process is synthesized into a low dose polymer form, that allows the dissolved atoms to adhere directly to the fabric thread. This allows the Ag+ polymer to coat every corner of the fabric, while only using 10 to 30 parts per million of silver.
